What did I miss?

Hi everyone,

So I've been out of the loop for a little while. Don't worry, everything has been good. In fact in most areas I'm better than ever. I've hit a snag here and there, but I'm working them out. So what have we missed since my last post?

Today marks my 4th month of HRT. Puberty is a slow process. The first time we go through it puberty can take from 2-5 years, and the second is no better. In fact the older we get, the slower the process can be. Below are my progress pictures for the last 4 months.

In addition to the changes you can or can't see in the pictures my skin has gotten softer and I've gone from flat chested to a full A cup. Today I switched my estrogen intake method from transdermal (patch) to injections. There were a couple reasons for this. First, the medicine cycle is longer. I take it every 14 days. Secondly I don't have to worry about it coming off like the patch.

So what else? Last week the Secretary of Defence announced the start of a 6 month study aimed at allowing open transgender service within the DOD. This is historic. This move towards transgender equality is one of many that will eventually give transgender people equal rights and protections. Over the next 6 months a working group will evaluate the various aspects of allowing transgender service members to serve openly. 11 other nations and many agencies and organizations within the united states have already solved these problems so the working group has many options to choose from.

Over the last two months I have had an opportunity to share my story with several news and media outlets. I have used print, radio and television media in an effort to reach out to transgender people. When I came out I didn't intend to go public with my story. I had never planned on becoming an activist. Somewhere along the way I realized that my story was unique in a few ways, and more importantly that I could do more good by sharing my story. I have posted links to the news stories here.

Well that's the broad strokes folks. In the coming weeks I am going to get back to my journaling and you are welcome to read along if you like. There are exciting things coming and not just for me.
